Love Popcorn proves a fashionable treat at charity gala

POSTED ON August 19, 2025

The 2025 edition of the St Chad’s College Charity Fashion Show was a sweet experience in July, as Co. Durham popcorn manufacturer Sweet and Savoury (north east) donated 200 bags of Love Popcorn for guests to enjoy at the annual extravaganza.

Taking place at the start of July with a theme of Ancient Alexandria, the event raised funds for The People’s Kitchen Newcastle with models drawn from across the university’s student body.

Strutting their stuff in the impressive surroundings of the college showcasing the work of 12 talented designers from across the UK, the 2025 vintage raised an incredible £18,738 for the charity whilst guests enjoyed a sweet treat in the shape of Love Popcorn sweet flavoured packs.

Operating from a factory a stone’s throw from the former home of legendary snacks brand Phileas Fogg, Sweet and Savoury (north east) Ltd are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of popcorn.

Founded in 2019 after the acquisition of the Consett Popcorn Company, the family-owned firm has gone from strength to strength, developing both its own Love Popcorn brand and products on behalf of other household name brands.

Matty Graham, owner of Sweet and Savoury (North East) said: “We were delighted to gift bags of our sweet Love Popcorn to the fashion show and to provide an extra sweet treat to be enjoyed as the models strutted their stuff.

“The event was in support of a really worthwhile cause and I’d like to congratulate everyone involved for raising such a spectacular sum of money in support of The People’s Kitchen in Newcastle.”
