Popcorn from County Durham is helping the NSPCC raise money in support of Childline this Autumn, as Sweet & Savoury (North East)’s Love Popcorn brand becomes an official supplier to the charity’s Monday Movie Club.

Starting with Monday’s (September 22) screening of A Big, Bold, Beautiful Journey, starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, the Consett-based company will provide popcorn for all guests across the eight-event season.

Providing a chance to introduce its products to discerning cinephiles, the Co. Durham confectioner was delighted to have been asked by the UK’s leading children’s charity to become its official supplier.

Dipping into its array of 19 flavours, the first event saw stars from the Love Popcorn snacking range take top billing with 200 bags across their Fiery Salsa, Salty Sweet, Sea Salt, Sweet, Sweet Vanilla and toffee varieties made the stars of the show.

With more screenings to follow throughout the year, attendees can expect to be delighted by further flavours in the Love Popcorn snacking range and selected flavours from the luxury gourmet range whilst the enjoy their movie.

Sweet & Savoury owner Matthew Graham said: “Having great popcorn to enjoy is key to any cinema experience, so when the NSPCC told us they needed someone to support the Monday Movie Club, we knew we had to be their supplier.

“It is a great opportunity for us to introduce our Love Popcorn range to a whole new audience as we look to grow its presence in the marketplace, whilst at the same time, helping in a small way to raise funds for a massively important service.”

Since its launch ten years ago, the Monday Movie Club has raised more than £1,000,000 and allowed the NSPCC’s free, 24-hour, confidential counselling service to respond to more than 250,000 contacts from children and young people facing issues such as abuse, neglect, and mental health challenges.

Alice Smith, partnerships fundraiser with NSPCC added: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Love Popcorn supporting Monday Movie Club as our Popcorn Partner. Their support is helping us create unforgettable experiences for movie lovers whilst ensuring Childline, a life changing NSPCC service, can remain there for young people across the UK.

“We’re giving film fans a chance to see the season’s most anticipated and award-winning films while helping keep Childline operating 24/7 for children and young people.

“The Monday Movie Club has grown into something really special since it was founded in 2011, and with Love Popcorn’s support, we’re excited to see what we can achieve in the months ahead.”
